Goals

The basic goal of DXC is to produce strong-bodied, strong-minded, self-motivated athletes and citizens who can overcome difficulties on a race course, on a playing field, in a classroom, in a relationship ... you name it.

More specifically, here are the stated goals for Dayton Cross Country:
Develop athletes who understand what it takes to be healthy physically, socially, emotionally and academically.
Develop athletes' who understand the physiology of athletic performance and health.
Develop athletes who understand what it means to compete with honor and skill, and lose with grace and dignity.
Develop quickness, flexibility, strength and endurance, as well as technical skill in running and racing.

(Note that the first three goals emphasize developing 'people,' not simply 'understanding' or 'skills.' That is intentional. I coach kids, not just running.)

"We don't fear adversity, we embrace it."
