Dayton High School

Graduation Credit Requirements

Beginning with the 2006 – 2007 school year, Dayton High School will use a Six Period Day.   To make the transition in the number of required credits for graduation, the credits will be prorated across each high school student’s four years.   Students will need to earn 90% of the total number of credits that are possible for their graduating class.   For the years the student was on a Four Period Day, the student had an opportunity to earn eight credits each year.   For the years the students will be on a Six Period Day, the student has the opportunity to earn six credits each year.

In the transition to the Six Period Day, students will not be placed in a position where they must recover courses and/or credits that are now required of younger graduating classes.    New courses are only required of students during their current year or future high school years. In transitioning to the Six Period Day, students will be able to meet their credit number through three different categories of classes.
