Although there are places in the world where money and banks play only a small role in the local economy, it is hard for us to imagine life without them . Money enable people and business to buy and sell goods and services around the world with easy efficiency. Banks and the banking system play an extremely important role in managing money and controlling and stimulating the economy. In this chapter, we will examine money-its function and characteristics- and the banking system that helps us manage it.
