The consumer Federation of America is a Federation that consits of national, state and local non-profit groups that share a common interstin monitoring federal legislation affecting consumers. The federation keeps its memebers up to date, and it actively promotes or works against specific legislation.

The private non-profit organization called Consumers Union publishes the periodical Consumer Reports. The Conumers Union tests and rates products and prints the results in the m agazine. It also publishes books and pamphlets on subjects of interest to consumers.

The Better Business Bureau, is another well-known consumer proctection agency. This non-profit organization collects information ob retail businesses, handles complaints on them, and distributes comsumer information. The Better Business Bureau will try to help a consumer find a satisfactory to the solution if the consumer has a complaint against a particular business.
