The consumer has the right to, but also the responsibilty to compalin if he, or she encounters a problem. A valid complaint states teh problem, along with a resonable solution or remedy the business could provide, clearly, firmly, and courteously. A consumer may wish to return a defective prodcut and request a full refund, a return of the purchase price of the product. In most cases, businesses are willing to refund, or replace the product, or take another action to satisfy the consumer.
In other cases, however, a busisness may not be willing to meet the consumers expectations. All states have small claim courts that deal with minor legal matters up to a certain amout of money. The limit of the claims varies from one state to another, and often changes, but can be as low as $25 and as high as $5,000.
Typical problems include tenant and landlord disagreements, and consumers who have trouble with a product or service. Small claims courts also deal with warranties. There are two types of warrenties. An expressed, and an implied warrenty. In some cases both warrenties often become a matter of dispute in small claims court, when consumers feel the have been cheated.
