Eligibility

 

To qualify for financial aid at Walla Walla College , a student must:

• Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
• Show evidence of having received a high school diploma or Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED).
• Show financial need through the application process.
• Register for at least 12 credit hours. (Students registered for 6-11 credit hours will receive a reduced aid award.)
• Be working toward a degree or certification.
• Maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by the WWC Financial Bulletin.
• Not be in default on any student loan.
• Not have already received 16 quarters of financial aid for a bachelor's degree or 8 quarters of aid for an associate degree.
• Not owe a refund on a Federal Pell Grant or Federal SEOG.
• Be registered with Selective Service if required to do so.
• Have no prior conviction for drug distribution or possession.

Each student is responsible for keeping Student Financial Services informed of changes in the student's or the family's financial circumstances or in the information originally submitted on the WWC Financial Aid Application.

 

Running Start provides academically motivated students an opportunity to take college courses as part of their high school education.

 

Students may take just one class per quarter, or take all of their courses on the BCC campus. If you are eligible for the program, you will earn both high school and college credit for the classes you take.

Classes taken on the college campus as part of the Running Start program are limited to "college level" courses (most classes numbered 100 or above qualify).

 

Tuition is paid for by the school district. Books, class related fees and transportation are the responsibility of the student.

You are eligible for Running Start if you meet the following criteria:

 

• You will be in the 11th or 12th grade by your first quarter of Running Start. Grade status is determined by the high school.

 

• You are currently enrolled in a public high school. Private school and home school students must register in a public high school to access RS. The student, however, does not need to attend the public high school.

 

• You place in college level English through the COMPASS assessment. Students must qualify for college level Writing, English 101 and college level reading, English 106 or higher. • You meet program application deadlines.
