Journal Entry #1: Friday, January 26, 2007 Today is our fourth day of the new Semester. I am actually enjoying the new schedule for the new semester. Two of the classes I like are so-called "Ag Projects" and horticulture. In ag projects, we are learning how to weld with an electric arc-welder, and we will soon learn to weld with oxy-acetylene. Arc welding actually wasn't too bad. It just takes some practice to do it well. I think Horticulture is going to an easy class.because Mr. Donnely makes the class fun to learn. Ag projects will also be fun for me too. Journal Entry #2: Thursday, February 8, 2007 I have now been to my Internship 3 times so far. I really didn't have much work assigned to me so far. The only things I have done was fill a couple of screw bins, stack lumber, load sheetrock for somebody, clean up some garbage, and do some sweeping. In my opinion, this is almost too easy for me. The people that work there told me that Monday is their most busy day of the week. Yesterday I saw Deni Buet at City Lumber and I said "Hello" to him. He was just there to buy some lumber to make a staircase for somebody's house. I helped him pick out some good lumber that wasn't bowed, warped, or real knotty. I thought yesterday was only mildly busy, to say the least. Journal Entry #3: Thursday, February 22, 2007 The best thing about my Internship so far is I got to learn to dive a forklift. I can't say that htere's any question I have to ask. So far, all I did this week was do some cleaning up and organizing inside the building, and put away some merchandise. Journal Entry #4: Thursday, March 15, 2007 I very much enjoyed the talk I had with Dr. Kennie and Ms. Darby at our first(and last) Power Donut Break. What I was able to get from Dr. Kennie and Ms. Darby is that careers in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry are in high demand and you can create art with welding(like what Melody Mufflers has done in Walla Walla). I never did give it much thought, but It sounds like a good idea to make art out of metal, that is, if I have any free time on my hands. The Power Donut Break was actually somewhat interesting in the end..
