Culture

What is the climate or the atmosphere of your organization? What does it feel like to be there? Are people happy to be working at you sire? Are you happy?

As I arrived at my job site, I noticed a very calm climate. Mostly, everyone is busy doing their own work and it is quiet. The court is usually a busy place. When there is less work, everyone seems less serious and it is not as quiet. Even when it is busy, I have never sensed any kind of negativity or other such feelings. People seem happy to be working there. They are friendly to each other and the different people they deal with everyday. Although it is not my favorite career field, I like working there and I get to learn many new things that might be useful to me in the future.

Skills Observed

What employee skills have you observed? How did people acquire these skills? How important is training to the job? What abilities seem to be demonstrated?

The very first thing that I noticed about skills required, when I started working at the court house, was that expertise in higher level English is very important. My Mentor and my co-workers often use these skills in tasks such as writing letters, and other legal documents. English is not my favorite subject, but ever since I have been working there, I have started liking it and also gotten better at it. Even if I go into a career field totally different than this, the skills I have acquired here will definitely help me in the future. Technology skills are also required since everything works with computers these days.

Purpose

Some companies are private; others are public. Some companies are created to make a profit; others are designed to provide a social service. Every organization has a purpose for their existence. What is your organization’s purpose?
