Dear Parents

I wanted to welcome everyone to kindergarten. There will be two sessions of kindergarten for the upcoming school year. The bell for the morning session will ring at 8:20 and the tardy bell will ring at 8:25 (students need to be in the classroom by 8:25). Class will dismiss at 11:05. Afternoon class will begin at 11:40 and dismiss at 2:25. There is not any supervision on the playground when dropping children off. Please stay with them until I open the back door to begin class. Please drop off and pick up your children at the back door of the kindergarten room (1st door under the covered area) this will save you from having to sign in at the office. Open House is scheduled—look for more information to come in the mail about date and time. I welcome volunteers. If you are available to volunteer I will have a sign up schedule in the classroom at open house. I realize children this age need to eat frequently. If you would like to donate snacks I would be willing to provide a snack around 10:00 am for morning and 1:15 for afternoon. Breakfast and Lunch are available at the school for kindergarten students as long as your child has an adult staying with them to eat. I encourage all of you to visit the school website—www.dayton.wednet.edu—on the left hand side of the screen you will see an icon that says Kindergarten. This is a kindergarten readiness checklist that will help you continue to prepare your children for their first year of formal education. Supply list Large backpack 3 large glue sticks 2 Elmer’s glue Box of crayons 2 boxes of facial tissue scissors watercolor paints Pencils 2 folders with pockets (put name on) It is unnecessary to mark supplies for kindergarten (other than what I have asked you to mark). I will throw all supplies together for the whole class to use rather than trying to keep things separate. I am very excited about the upcoming school year. I look forward to working with you and your children!
