Dear Parents, February is moving fast. We have been reviewing the letters "g" and "f" in reading. We have been reading and writing about Koko the Gorilla and are finishing reading a unit about frogs. We are working on retelling stories to be sure we comprehend what we read. Everyone is getting better and better at reading the sight words. This really helps when reading unfamiliar stories and AR books. As we begin the second semester, please help your child continue reading as much as possible and help them remember to return their reading logs. Thank you for all your help! In math we will be working a lot with counting and writing numbers this week as we reach our 100th day of school. We will be celebrating our 100th day on Wednesday, February, 6, 2008. We will also be working with doubles and learning a game that uses doubles and halves of numbers. In Science we are having a great time with our Solids and Liquids unit. We have compared and contrasted solids by color, heavy or light, roll or stack and sink or float. The boys and girls are getting very efficient at sorting objects by different properties.
