Europe, Africa, and the Americas Interact
1.What did the African kingdoms have in common? How were they different? Their economies were based on trade, but their governments were different.
2.How did the Portuguese carry on trade in Africa? They established stations
all along the African coast.
3.How did the system of triangular trade operate? Traders exchanged goods
for slaves, the slaves were sold for plantation goods, and the goods were
then
taken back to Europe.
4.What were the effects of the slave trade on the people of Africa, Europe,
and the Americas? African lands were left empty, racism spread throughout
Europe and the Americas.
5.How did Spain create an empire in the Americas? In search for new lands
and wealth, Spaniards explored and conquered much of the Americas.
