NOTICE OF NON-DISCRIMINATION

The District complies with all federal rules and regulations, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, or disability. WE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN PESTICIDES ARE USED

In compliance with Senate Bill 5533 and RCW 17.21, the Dayton School will provide annual notice regarding the use of pesticides. The notification will meet the following requirements: Not less than 48 hours before a pesticide is applied in a school building or on school grounds the school district shall provide to each parent and guardian of each student enrolled at the school and each staff of the school. The notice will include the common name and/or trade name of the pesticide; a description of the location of the application of the pesticide; a description of the date and time of the application; a description of the reasons for the application of the pesticide; any additional warning information related to the pesticide; and at least 72 hours before a pesticide, other than a least toxic pesticide, is used by a school, the school district shall post a sign that provides notice of the application of the pesticide in a prominent place that is in or adjacent to the location to be treated; and at each entrance to the building or school ground to be treated. ASBESTOS INFORMATION re: ELEMENTARY BUILDING

Under the provision of the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) you are hereby notified that building materials containing asbestos are located within Dayton Elementary.

Mr. John Hutchens, district maintenance supervisor, has been appointed by the school board as the AHERA Designated person. Copies of the Operations and Management Plans are located within the administrative office and are available for your inspection during regular business hours. John can be contacted at 382-2543.

Childfind: We're looking for Special Kids

The Dayton School District No. 2 is seeking young people from birth to age 21 who are residents of the school district and are not enrolled in school but may need special education services. Special needs are defined as having concerns with hearing, vision, speech, language, health, orthopedic or spinal problems, autism, or other disabilities. Parents or guardians are encouraged to contact the Dayton School District at the special education office at 609 S Second, Dayton, WA 99328, or call 382-2507.

 

CONFIDENTIALITY AND YOUR RIGHTS:

The Dayton School District is required by Section 99.7 of Federal Regulations titled "Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)," to provide parents annual notifications of their FERPA rights. If parents have a primary or home language other than English, the district will effectively notify them of their rights under this section.

The parent or eligible student has a right to:
1). Inspect and review the student's education records;
2). request amendment of the student's education records to ensure that they are not inaccurate, misleading, or other-wise in violation of the student's privacy or other rights;
3). Consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in the student's education records, except to the extent that the act and the regulations in this part authorized disclosure without consent;
4). file with the US Department of Education a complaint under Section 99.64 concerning alleged failures by the agency to comply with the requirements of the act and this part;
5). a description of who is considered to be a school official and what is considered to be a legitimate educational interest so that information may be shared with that person;
6 ). obtain a copy of the policy adopted under Section 99.6. A copy of this policy is available by request at the Dayton School District superintendent's office located at 609 South Second, Dayton, WA 99328, or by calling 382-2543. This notice is intended to comply with the applicable requirements in 34 CFR Part 300, 34 CFR Part 99, and WAC392-172-404.

Release of Directory Information
The School District considers the following information as "directory information" under the terms of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act: student name, address, phone number, date and place of birth, major field of study, participation in school activities and sports, weight and height of members of athletic teams, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, the most recent school attended by the student, and student photographs. Also, a list of seniors will be sent to the Armed Services Interservice Recruitment Committee each year. Parents or guardians may refuse to permit the designation of any or all of these categories as it relates to their children by notifying the superintendent at 382-2543.
